Turkana County came to life as hundreds of residents who ranged from men of all ages, women clad in various traditional outfits, to children whose siblings were now safely in school, thanks to the Hunger Safety Net Program (HSNP) turned up at account opening venues in Kakuma and Kalokol.
At hand to receive beneficiaries were officials from the Hunger Safety Net Program (HSNP), branded Equity bank officials, HelpAge officials at a complaints desk and chiefs in their official uniform.
At the two account opening venues, there was no confusion. Potential beneficiaries sat put, their documents in hand, while those who had issues proceeded to the complaints desk where HelpAge’s Rights Committee members attended to them.
A number of those present said they were beneficiaries during HSNP’s Phase I, while others said they had seen the positive impact of the cash transfers on recipients.
